Did you know that in order to undertake the installation of a Level 2 EV Charger, install smart home appliances, upgrade your home’s electrical system, or install rooftop solar, you might need to upgrade your electrical wall panel? For example, a Level 2 EV Charger requires an electrical panel with a minimum rating of 200A, and if you are planning to install more than one charger, the minimum rating requirement increases accordingly.

Neglecting to upgrade your electrical wall panel in line with electrical system upgrades in your home can be a serious safety risk, not to mention you could fall foul of the law. Fear not, we are here to help!

How Do I Upgrade My Electrical Wall Panel?

Any electrical wall panel requires a licensed electrician to perform any upgrades on it. Operating without proper equipment & training could result in electrical shock and injury. A full electrical panel upgrade can be very labour intensive, and requires extensive planning for proper execution.

There are regulatory requirements that have been mandated by BC Hydro as well, including, but not limited to:

  • Requesting a Service Alteration
  • Service Disconnection by BC Hydro
  • Electrical Permit Application

While this may sound complicated, we can help. With hundreds of electrical panel upgrades under our belt, EVSOL Energy can help you do it right. Reach out to us today for a free consultation and we'll help you upgrade your electrical panel.
